he Admiral's Cup is a British event which draws yachtsmen from all over the world. National teams of three offshore boats have been racing from Cowes since 1957 over inshore courses in and around the Solent and further offshore, culminating in the famous Fastnet Race. Held every other year, the series has enjoyed expansion of stature and prestige and is regarded as ocean racing's unofficial world championship. Since 1987, it has enjoyed the support of Champagne Mumm. All of sailing's greats have been attracted to the series, including America's Cup protagonists Dennis Conner and British premier Sir Edward Heath. Every modern professional, from Eric Taberly to Chris Dickson and Lawrie Smith, have served their time aboard Admiral's Cuppers. This official history tells the story of four decades of racing in which the sport has undergone change. Each series is recounted in full, the leading competitors portrayed and the landmark yachts featured with their designer's own drawings and comments. Also, the results and points scored by every boat in every series have been brought together.
